MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Bard College junior Perry Scheetz shattered her own school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Saturday when she ran away from the field at the Millersville Metrics, hosted by Millersville University.

Scheetz finished in 11:16.76, winning the event and beating her closest competition by 30 seconds, and smashing her own school record in the event by 28 seconds.

Since the start of the 2010 season, Scheetz has won the steeplechase event six times, but she was never faster than she was on Saturday.

Bard's next meet as a team will be April 14 at Vassar.
