Scheetz smashes school record, finishes fourth at ECAC Championships

Junior Perry Scheetz broke the school record en route to finishing fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the ECAC Championships on Thursday.
TROY, N.Y. - Bard College junior Perry Scheetz capped an amazing spring with a fourth-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the ECAC Championships on Thursday.

Scheetz finished the event in 11:02.32, smashing her own school record in the event by more than 13 seconds. It marked the fourth time this spring that Scheetz broke her own school record in the event. She also broke the school record in the 5,000 meters this spring.

The provisional standard in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to qualify for the NCAA Championships is 11:10.00. The event was won by Bori Tozser of Cortland State, who finished in 10:50.25.

Just last week, Scheetz was honored along with senior Kim Larie as the Female Student-Athlete of the Year at Bard's Student-Athlete Awards Banquet.
