Men's volleyball team earns AVCA academic award

Bard's men's volleyball team is one of only seven teams in the country to qualify for the AVCA's Team Academic Award.
The Bard College men's volleyball team was recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association with a Team Academic Award - one of only seven men's teams in the country to qualify.

The AVCA Team Academic Reward honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale. Only the men's teams from Bard, George Mason University, Stanford University, New York University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Vassar College met the criteria.

Bard's team GPA was 3.36 on a 4.0 scale.

Bard, NYU and Vassar are all in the same league - the United Volleyball Conference. The Raptors went 9-20 in the 2012 season, their first full year as a member of the powerful UVC.
