LA CROSSE, Wis. - Bard College senior
Perry Scheetz placed 11th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase final at the NCAA Track & Field Championships on Saturday afternoon.
Scheetz, who was the last of the 22 runners to qualify, made the final on Thursday by running a personal best and Bard record 10:54.22. That made her the 14th seed in a 14-runner field for the final, and she placed 11th in 10:57.44.
Geneseo State senior Alyssa Smith (Rochester, NY) won the event in 10:17.38.

It wraps up a stellar athletic and academic career for Scheetz, who will next pursue a Ph.D. in Chemistry at Dartmouth College. She was a four-year starter on the women's soccer team, a First Team ECAC All-Star in cross country, and Bard's first-ever qualifier for the track & field National Championships.
