DANBURY, Conn. - On Tuesday, one day after being named the Liberty League Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week, Bard freshman
Melissa Rosenthal was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Corvias Div. III North Rookie of the Week.
The Raptors came from behind to win two games last week, and Rosenthal was among the heroes. Bard was trailing at Nichols College, 8-6, with 10 minutes left, but Rosenthal scored twice to send the game into overtime, then assisted on the game-winning goal by
Nicole Ellin. Rosenthal finished with two goals and three assists, and Bard won, 9-8.
Then against Sage, Bard trailed 8-6 early in the second half. Led by five draw controls by Rosenthal, the Raptors took charge of that game, scored eight of the last nine goals and won, 12-7. She had three goals and an assist to go with seven draw controls.
Bard, 3-1, will begin Liberty League play this weekend, beginning with a game against 15th-ranked William Smith College on Friday at 6:30. A game against Union College will follow on Saturday at 4. Both games are being played at Dietz Stadium in Kingston.
