CLUB SPORTS
Bard offers a variety of club sports sponsored through the Department of Athletics and Recreation including Men's and Women's Rugby, Ultimate Frisbee, Cycling, Equestrian, Fencing, Baseball and Swimming. Below is information about each of our club sports, and if available, a link to their websites.

MEN'S RUGBY
The men's rugby club is a member of the Metropolitan Rugby Union and competes in the fall and spring semesters. The student members of the club maintain a rigorous schedule with New York area college and university teams. Bard’s home practice field, the Seth Goldfine Memorial Field, is named in memory after the club's founder, Seth Goldfine. The team plays a full fall and spring schedule with both home and away matches. Each spring, the annual alumni game is enjoyed on campus as both current and past players compete and enjoy a weekend filled with rugby action and socializing! WOMEN'S RUGBY

FENCING
The College sponsors a fencing club for men and women with a focus on skill instruction in foil, epee and saber. The club trains on campus and has the opportunity to compete off campus with area clubs and selected colleges. Club members of all skill levels are welcome to participate - No experience needed! All classes are held in the Stevenson Gymnasium.
The Fencing Club is coached by Hope Konecny. Coach Konecny has been fencing for over 30 years. She was two time Connecticut high school state champion, a member of an NCAA championship fencing team at San Jose State in California, and earned a silver medal in the 1981 USA national championships. Hope represented the USA at two world university championships and one world championship. Coach Konecny has been a coach at Bard for many years and has run her own fencing center, The Gristmill, since 1997. EQUESTRIAN
The Bard Equestrian team riders take weekly group or private lessons at their home training center. More riding is encouraged, but not required. They compete in the IHSA (Intercollegiate Horse Show Association) horseshows in Zone 2, Region 1. Each year, there are approximately 10 competitions at different college and university facilities with Bard well represented at these events. Bard Equestrian Club competes against teams including Vassar, Drew, Centenary, Marist, and United States Military Academy. The club is always looking for more riders to join the team. ULTIMATE FRISBEE
Bard's Ultimate Frisbee team bomBARDment practices four days a week during the Spring and Fall seasons. Over the course of a semester, the team plays single matches against local schools like Marist and New Paltz and competes in three or four tournaments at nearby colleges. In addition, bomBARDment hosts its own invitational tournament. The team is open to anyone who is interested and represents the full range of skill levels from beginners to experienced players. We welcome new members at the beginning of each semester and we make sure that all our players get the skills they need - joining isn't just a chance to play ultimate, its a chance to learn it. The Raptors Swim Team has been approved to move into varsity status for the 2011-2012 academic year. An informational meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 1, at 6:30 p.m. on the balcony of the main gym in the Stevenson Gymnasium. BASEBALL
The Bard Men's Baseball Club and is playing in the NECBA (New England Club Baseball Association) with many other college and universities throughout the region. The NECBA is a national body and is not affiliated with the NCAA. It serves as the main organizer of intercollegiate club baseball competition. The club actively seeks new recruits and players. Our player/coach/founder is Jim Chambers, who can be reached at jc126@bard.edu, and our assistant player/coach is Steve Kovalcik, who can be reached at sk6484@bard.edu.
INTRAMURALS
A number of intramural sports are offered, with emphasis on participation and fun. Intramural programs include basketball, floor hockey, bowling, tennis, table tennis, volleyball, softball, golf, badminton, and squash. Tournaments and events in squash, basketball, table tennis, and aquatics are popular. All Bard intramural teams compete as part of the National Intercollegiate Recreational Sports Association.
The mission of the intramural program is to develop sportsmanship and camaraderie through participation in sport. The positive interaction with other students that occurs on the playing fields fosters friendships, develops teamwork concepts, and enables participants to maintain physical fitness. All sports and events place an emphasis on fun and participation.
PARTICIPATION PROCESS

Pick up a roster at any time during the semester (located at the intramural display downstairs in the Stevenson Gymnasium)

Complete roster and return by specified date. NO EXCEPTIONS

Captain's meeting will be held.
