The 2025-26 academic year marks Stefanie Carrington's second year as Director of Athletics and Recreation at Bard. It is Carrington's 13th year overall at the institution and her fourth year in a dedicated administrative position. Carrington was previously the Associate Director of Athletics and Recreation for two years before being named Director of Athletics and Recreation in August 2024.

Carrington arrived at Bard in the summer of 2013 as the Head Men's and Women's Volleyball Coach. Under Carrington’s leadership, 46 women’s volleyball student-athletes were named to the Liberty League All-Academic Team and two women’s volleyball players were named All-Liberty League Honorable Mention (two-time honorees Emily Anastasi and Ryan Lum). Carrington coached the men’s volleyball team for three years and mentored seven United Volleyball Conference Academic Team recipients.

Before coaching at Bard, she was the Head Women's Volleyball Coach at Dominican College, an NCAA DII institution. In her first year (2008), the team went 2-25 before making a marked turnaround to the tune of a 22-10 season in 2009. In her final year in Orangeburg, the team went 26-8, including a perfect 19-0 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. The Chargers went on to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history, falling in the first round to the eventual Regional Champions. Carrington was honored as the CACC Coach of the Year in both 2009 and 2012. In 2012 and 2013, she was also named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association Thirty Under 30, an award that recognizes the best volleyball coaches in the country under 30 years of age.

During her time as a senior level administrator at Bard, Carrington has overseen the search and hiring process for more than half of the department's current Head Coaching staff and has implemented much of the organizational structure within the department. In her first year as Director of Athletics, she also launched Bard's first ever Call to Give fundraising campaign.

Carrington graduated Magna Cum Laude from Marist College with a degree in Economics and a Minor in Music. She is also the Club Director of New York Elite Volleyball in nearby Poughkeepsie, NY.
